Description
Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) Panel – VCA IgG/IgM, Early Antigen (EA), EBNA IgG
This blood test evaluates for current, recent, or past infection with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), a common virus associated with mononucleosis (“mono”) and chronic fatigue symptoms.
- VCA IgM: Indicates recent or active infection
- VCA IgG: Shows past or current infection and long-term immunity response
- Early Antigen (EA): May indicate active or reactivated infection
- EBNA IgG: Appears later and typically indicates past infection
Together, these markers help providers determine whether an EBV infection is new, recent, reactivated, or from the past.
